A beginner’s guide to interior design

Every great project begins with a spark of creativity, and sometimes all it takes is the right environment to let that spark grow. That is exactly why we are launching A beginner’s guide to interior design – a friendly, hands-on workshop created for hobbyists, early stage designers and anyone curious about interiors to learn, explore and have a go. It is a relaxed opportunity to step inside our world, see how we approach design, and take away skills and confidence you can use in your own spaces.

The workshop will run on Saturday 15th November, from 10am to 1pm, at CoWorking Devon’s beautiful studio space with huge full height glass windows spanning the full width of the studio, giving us the opportunity to bring the outside world into the workshop tasks. You will have direct access to the tools, materials and inspiration that shape our projects. It is not a lecture, it is a collaborative session where you will be encouraged to try ideas, ask questions and experiment. With support throughout, you will discover that design is not about rigid rules but about finding what feels right for you.

This workshop is especially for those who have an interest in interiors but may not know where to start, as well as design graduates or early stage professionals who want to build confidence. Whether you are a hobbyist who enjoys experimenting at home, a student exploring career paths, or simply someone who loves design, you will feel welcomed and supported here.

Together we will explore how to build a concept, why certain choices work better than others, and how to translate inspiration into something practical and achievable. By the end of the session you will have learnt how to spot the key elements of a scheme, balance colours, textures and light, and bring an idea together so that it feels considered and complete. Most importantly, you will have the reassurance that design can be playful and accessible.

What makes this workshop unique is the blend of creativity and community. It is about sharing knowledge, sparking ideas and enjoying the process as much as the outcome. You will leave with a better understanding of style and concept, the confidence to experiment, and the encouragement to keep developing your own design language.
