Thatcher Avenue represents a pinnacle of contemporary design, perched in the unique location of Torquay, overlooking the sea and the iconic Thatcher Rock.
This project showcases a clean, sharp modern aesthetic, carefully balanced with softer qualities to create a welcoming home. Featuring state-of-the-art amenities, extensive glazing, and bespoke detailing, the design maximises stunning views and quality of light throughout the house.
Challenge
The primary challenge was to create a modern, luxurious home that not only embraced the stunning coastal views but also provided privacy and comfort. Integrating extensive glazing to maximise natural light and views, while ensuring privacy, required innovative solutions.
Additionally, incorporating state-of-the-art amenities and bespoke features into the design demanded careful planning and execution to maintain a seamless and cohesive aesthetic.
Solution
Our solution involved a well thought-out design process that focused on blending modernity with comfort. We utilised the full height windows to highlight the breathtaking views and enhance natural light. The windows are complemented by electrically operated privacy glazing for discretion where needed. Bespoke kitchens and bathrooms were designed with carefully selected finishes to achieve stunning results, while contemporary, luxurious bathrooms provided ultimate comfort.
The individually designed detailing, using a fusion of hardwoods, glass, and metals, created unique, contrasting elements throughout the home. A cantilevered staircase was designed to give the illusion of floating steps, adding a sculptural element to the interior. Bedrooms were strategically designed to open directly onto the exterior, maximising the views and outdoor spaces. The lighting fittings chosen offer both functional and sculptural qualities, enhancing the ambiance of the home, especially in the evenings.
Outcome
The completed project at Thatcher Avenue is a testament to innovative design and execution. The home now features unobstructed sea views, luxurious and functional spaces, and a seamless blend of modern and traditional materials.
